Fishing 13 Reel Bands?????
« on: Nov 20, 2021, 02:44 PM »
I just bought some and they are not very stretchy. Anybody have a clue how to get them on?

I was able to stretch them with 2 fingers to get them around the cork.

I just looked up the Ice Vice brand and there’s a video. Not near as easy as it looks in the video. Mike, you must have strong fingers.

Get a cedar plank..  take bands back and buy silicone tape ;D ;D imo nothing holds better while being easily removable than silicone tape but we all have different preferences

These hold pretty good, hated the castration bands. Silicone tape looks like a good application to.

Turkey baster.  Take the bulb off, put that end over your rod handle and roll up the band from the other end.  Wallah…

I was wondering about these as well, I purchased eyeconic fishing bands due to the fact they advertised no tool required… I couldn’t even get them on my thumb never mind a rod! I contacted them and they admitted they made the bands tighter this year and they use a tool. They refunded me without me asking so great customer service at least but they still advertise no tool required  ???

Man, I can't imagine they are even tighter this year. I bought some last season and really struggled getting them on. One of my rods is a split grip and the butt end is flared out even bigger on the end. I still don't know how I got those on, as great as they are now that they are on the rods, I'll stick with the silicone tape I've been using. Literally.

I think silicone tape is the way I should have gone. The bands are a pain, but they do seem to work. No clue what I should do with all the leftover castration bands. I do know an X wife that might take them. 🤣

Do what I did.

Bought a bag of green ones for $0.99 had 100 bands in it. From farm store.

Put 25 bands for sale on EBay for $5. Ship them in an envelope for $0.50. Kept 25 for myself sold the other 75 for $13.50….😊

What’s messed up is when I ran out people were messaging me on eBay to see if I had anymore…lol. It wasn’t worth the effort to run around so I just messaged them back to stop at a vet office or farm supply store where they could get 100 for $1.

To be honest…I’m surprised cold snap isn’t offering the premium reel band tool for installing them for $50. Which is just a $10 castration banding tool….

Silicone self adhesive tape. Clam sells it, otherwise it's cheaper in the plumbing department at most hardware stores common brands/names are Tommy tape, rescue tape, wrap-fix. Can get it in tons of colors. Be sure to stretch as you wrap, there probably a video of someone using it on YouTube

I think the one drawback of regular electrical tape is it can sometimes leave residue if/when you remove it.

For the castration bands I got a 99 cent funnel ..cut at an angle ..also for the split rods ..I think a piece of a golf tube will bridge the gap .

I’ve used the silicone tape. It’s ok….but seems like a guy always has a lump where the tape is

I use cohesive bandage. It is cheap, comes in lots of colors, holds well, and is waterproof.

I put on a reel earlier today with some reel wrap from DH and it worked really nice. I think I like it better than the silicone tape. Not sure exactly what it is, I’m guessing DH isn’t the only source
