My dad just had a birthday and my mom's was 2 weeks earlier while I was out of town at work.
Since they were both turning the big 70 I decided to cook them something special.
Had my local butcher shop cut me some really thick porterhouse steaks.
Which were grilled with an herb butter I made.
I also baked some German Butterball potatoes fresh out of my garden and cooked a buttercup winter squash also fresh from the garden.
It all turned out so delicious!

For tomorrow. FINALLY getting back out on the lake trolling for some Walleye. So I whipped up some half pound deli sliced Pastrami, aged Swiss and homemade Rye for lunches. Unsweetened Pure Leaf tea to wash 'em down.

This'll make your mouth water...

Found a nice loaf (though I prefer the roll version) of good rye, top crusted with pretzel salt. Yippie! got a nice log of Nueske's braunschweiger, a middle aged block of Limburger and some nice red onion. Gonna make myself a sammie. Serving with kettle chips and a home canned garlic dill. Wash it all down with a Guinness. C'mon baby, gimme a kiss!

I'm a martini and a half from assembly...
