It is not a new concept, the PVT goes back to 1985.

It is the same concept as a snowmobile, with a drive and driven clutch. The technology is at least 50 years old.
yeah.... but i'm slow to change.... ;)and at times cheap.... ;)

OK, here we go!

All of the parts are ready to go. The entire engine is washed in hot water and soap. The crank was rinsed out, blown out, and re oiled.

Crank and block are joined, all parts are re oiled.

Engine complete and ready for install

Back snuggled in its home.

One of my neighbors is going to do the carbs and set the oil injection for me. Once that is done, I wait for snow!

Looks like you have one, top-notch mechanic there.  What kind of special tool is he concentrating on there? ;)  Good luck with the rebuild.

Ah, Skipper.

I kind of hate to point this out now, but is that a piston sitting on the bench in the picture after it's all buttoned up?

Doh!!!!

Nice Job Skipper
Good to see your boy in on it with you.
I was "sort of" taught about fixing stuff.  Last night I had to teflon paste my Evo breather bolts on my HD so I told my wife to bring our 3 month old boy down to hang out while I puttered on my scoot.  When she asked why, I simply explained that I will teach him everything I can about fixing stuff.

The employment of effort, hard work, time, and energy put in locating fish will offend noone.

He is working on one of those dang juice pouches. He is actually much better at opening them than me. ;D

I was just out in the garage looking under the hood and I found where someone had written "rebuilt at'' and the mileage. They got a whopping 10 miles out of it!

They had the head gasket in backwards, and one carb was set WAAAAAY lean. They also never honed the cylinders because they were glazed and had no sign of cross hatch. There is no way they could have glazed them in 10 miles.

Some people should not mess with engines. ::)

I bought it with a popped motor, and that was understood. The people that worked on it are guilty of nothing but poor craftsmanship.

What the heck is that green thing under your work bench? My first instinct is that it is an arc welder, but I grew up around welders and I have never seen anything like that before. ???

Did they bring it over on the Mayflower? ;D

No, but I am dumping gas in it this week and taking it to a guy up the road to do the carbs and set the oil injection. I have too much money in it to burn it down right away because the carbs are set up wrong.

Sweet setup and rebuild. I love 2-strokes, so simple and run like hell.

I dig the old welder. Isn't it amazing how long the old stuff will last.

Congrats on the successful start up! For me, there's no more rewarding sound than the engine you just rebuilt roaring to life! From a lowly lawnmower, all the way to a high compression 350 small block, they still put the same, ridiculous smile on my face!

Was your helper there for the start up?

Nice job on the rebuild. Hopefully my son will take to learning to repair and fix things as he has taken to fishing. It shouldnt be hard, but he still has to have a good education!
