What size is the most affective rapala jigging rap for walleye? W2, W3, W4, W5, or W7 :-\?
-
5 7 and 9
-
#5. Most common size of the fish Walleyes eat. However the other 2 larger ones are not bad options to have in the tackle box.
-
sometimes it comes down to bigger bait bigger fish you never know ive done it and it pays off and sometimes you need to down size good luck
-
W5's and W7's in multiple colors, add a tuned treble hook and O ring and your ready to go.
-
W7 with a #6 triple grip treble and the nose hook cut off, it causes more problems like getting hooked on the hole than hooking fish.
-
Do you guys tip these jiggin raps with anything? Spikes, mealies? I've never targeted eyes before and want to go for them this season. Any obvious tips I should know? I heard they are more active at night?

Everyone I know tips them. I don't slows me down. Fish will hit it naked! #5,7,9

Alright cool. Thanks man

Here #3 and #5 are the most common. SE WI. Also without cutting front hook off, have caught many fish on just the front that otherwise would have been missed.

#5,7,9 They will tell you which size is working all you have to do is change up. I fish them mostly naked year round but when its tough in the winter they do hit better sometimes with a minnow head on the three way. Fresh dead or salted minnows work just fine, just pinch the head off.

I use mostly the 2-3" size but it will change a bit depending on the size of the forage base in the lake. I almost always tip them with a minnow head, not sure if it makes them bite more but I think it makes them hold a bit longer/tighter due to the "taste". Front hooks have all been cut off the last few years, never ever caught one on the front hook before anyway and a way less hookups on the edge of the hole.
