If this has been asked and somewhere else I haven’t seen it...but how do you get two man flip over out of vehicle ( and most importantly back in) alone. I gotta empty it each time and it’s pretty easy getting it out. But getting back in is tough. Any ideas you use to help make easier.

Make a couple of ramps out of wood. 2x6 will work. Heck even a 2x4 should work. Just get behind it and push it up.

Some people lay planks up to the tailgate and push them up. I empty mine out and lift it in, but haven't done it for several years. One guy put an electric boat trailer winch in the front of the pickup bed and winches it up a couple of planks.

I use one plank, I lined the two edges with PVC to reduce friction. The Fish Trap slides right up and in, no problem. Slides right out easy as pie too.

I set 1 end on the endgate, so its sitting more or less vertical, then lift the other end up and push it in.

I used 3/4" plywood and a ski guide off a snowmobile trailer for my ramp.

Like everyone else. I use a ramp. More specifically, an aluminum folding ramp.

I had an old boat trailer and modified it to a little flatbed. Way easier to lift it on that. I struggled but was getting it in the back of my truck alone last year. But it wasn't easy. Thought of a ramp, but then just started using the trailer as was. But now my rancher niece squared it off, shortened it, and put a railing on it. She can sure weld! It's a little heavy but I pull it with 4 wheeler easy. Plus I have an older pickup that can haul by 4 wheeler in the box.

if you are using a smitty, turn the skis over and place the front on the edge of your car.

Great ideas! I too struggle with a one man clam. At the end of the day I'm not into lifting it.

Thanks guys. You all confirmed my idea for ramps...I have a set for my trailer that I’ll definitely give a try to. I’m wonder if I could make it slick enough (the pvc side lined idea) were I could put shelter on and lift back end of a plank up and have it slide in? Hmmm...maybe it’ll save pushing it up. Something like wide handles on the bottom of the ramp board. Just thinking about it. But seriously, thanks for input.

I have a 3 man Eskimo. I built a ramp a use from the tail gate to the ground slides right up and in the truck bed.

They make some light weight alm. ramps for 4 wheelers you may find cheap used. Maybe someone lost one and has no need for the other?

OK, here's an important question....

You have a 2 man portable, but you are fishing alone?
Bring a friend and have them help you.

If you plan on fishing alone a lot, then 2x4 (or 2x6) ramps would be good, or as mentioned, lean up against tailgate and lift/push into bed of truck.

I use a ramp that I hook to the front of my Smitty sled and the other end to the tail gate. That at least eliminates a little bit of the slope necessary to get it up to the bed of the truck. I've considered buying a cargo lift for the back of the truck that slips in to the trailer hitch that has the fold down ramp. As such used for people transporting those electric wheel chairs. The problem is you'll have to carefully cover your shanty so it doesn't get slopped up from road grit. And they're not cheap either. Lou

Getting one out is the easy part. Dragging it is the hard part unless you have an atv or snowmobile.

You’re right, dragging isn’t the easiest on thick snow...but the smitty sled does the trick for that (most times)...I also use a 4 wheeler when the ice is thick enough. So no real big problem there. I’ll be interested in trying the ramp idea this weekend. Might even use two ramps that I have 👍🏻

I remember one guy on here a while back not only did the ramp but mounted an inexpensive ATV winch in the nose of the truck bed. Out was easy but come time to load it was just hook it up and press the button.

$49 electric winch from Harbor Freight, the deep cycle from the fishing boat I don't use in the winter and a piece of 3/4 plywood. pulls all kinds of stuff into my truck. I bungee cord a solar battery charger to the headache rack and it stays charged all winter long.
