Been out twice for the whole day with my bros dad and uncle. Afternoon bite has been way better than the morning bite. Have caught 13 gills or pumpkinseeds of at least 10 inches so far this year. Definitely have to move a lot at times. Or other times you can just sit on a spot and kill them. We haven't really gotten into any crappies or bass yet but the gills have been on fire.
That's a Bluegill, no that's a Sunfish...I've heard it both ways!!

Think the derby Saturday will effect fishing Sunday?

It may. But from what I heard its 100$ entry fee so not sure how many will be there. Might have the fish biteshy, just jig something that they probably haven't seen!

Went out of the south end today to 22 - 25 ft.   Had 4 to 5 inches of solid black ice wherever I drilled.  Had constant marks but few takers.  Managed a few including one nice fat 12 incher.   Nothing on my tip downs - all perch caught jigging.

Sounds like a mixed back, but what species are hitting this weekend.

I gotta buy plastic or bait for next weekend, and have no idea what's out there.

Gills and bass and perch. Spikes worked the best for us.

Hey big guy, this lake can be really good or really slow,i always fish egde of weed beds about 10 ft or so for the big gills. I tend to find the crappie and perch hanging out in deeper water 17-22 ft. I only fish south end of the lake. Sometimes walking to west shore from the state park boat ramp is the best for those big gills. Normally you can get lots of them once you find them. once in awhile you may even pick up a walleye. Just beware there is gas pockets on this lake use caution when out there. Hope this helps you out a bit.

Anybody want to buddy up tomorrow?  I'll be at the southend by 6am.  Going out to 25-30fow.  Reports in that area are anywhere from 3-4 in. Not going any farther.  Maybe stay between 23 and 25
