how much ice is considered safe nfor quad and sled

 have COPD and even thogh i want to get out there, cant go far vw/o my quad

Somewhere on this site they had a chart.  I'm waiting until 6-8 inches.  I have a 09 Honda I put that in my wife will kill me ::) :o :o

Pork Rind/ thanks for the input  ihave a kawai prairie and i have not had wet feet in 30 yrs  i think i will still wait for a foot of ice to be sure.

Yea I know that feeling.  I put a 4 wheeler in Saginaw Bay Mi last year.   (Hit a pressure crack >:( >:( >:( >:()

There was a guy with a sled out on one of the area lakes.. 3 inches of ice... NUTZ.

I will wait for at least 8 inches before my quad makes it out there.

there were dirt bikes and snowmobiles on Mayfield lake yesterday.  6 inches of ice.  and yes, the dirt bikes are annoying as hell.

sleds will go across open water ive done it not saying its a good idea though wheelers wont seen that too

The first Trap Attack on Silver Lake had no more than 4 to 5 inches of good ice with a foot and a half of slushy snow on top.  They deemed it "safe" and there were wheelers all over the place.

Oh really? Pretty sure I've been there and done that on Lake George

On another note, 5" is good for me on a wheeler. I've had mine out on about 1.5" just playing around on shore to see if it would hold.

went to balck lake yesterday and they had wheelers out there ice was about 6 inches they were driving all over the place and even parked side by side as they drove by water came up and out my holes
