Do NH rainbows lay eggs?
« on: Feb 10, 2008, 06:25 PM »
I caught a rainbow in canobie today and as i was unhooking it a few small orange eggs came out. The fish was 18 inches, so i dont think it was stocked in there this year. Does anyone know if the rainbows in NH naturally spawn?  Im thinking that they must atleast lay eggs under the right sonditions, I dont know if that would translate into to trout fry or not. Just wondering if anyone has any opinions.

very few places on the east coast have suitable spawning environments for rainbows... there may be a few here and there (literally a few) but overall they dont successfully spawn
'Its either me or ice fishing' she says... i still have my jiffy
