MA has some of the best pike fishing in New England in terms of size. I’ve even had great numbers days into double digits. It’s no secret where - but I won’t be mentioning any names, do your own research lol

Most people catch and release pike now-a-days. Russians out west might keep them. But I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone keep one. If you wanna keep a twenty pounder for the wall - go for it. But release everything else please...

Checked some ice in central MA today. Wish I had been prepared to fish cause I would have based on what I found. 4-5 inches of white ice on a couple ponds. Warm rain next couple of days might actually help get rid of the crappy ice and snow and give a mild reset for the coming weeks. I'm hoping to be out a few times around christmas without driving far.

I don’t understand what you mean by “not many left” There is plenty of natural pike reproduction in mass

Can anyone that got out today in central mass describe the ice they were on? I would like to check spots and jig while staying on the move. Tomorrow will most likely get soupy so type of ice could make a difference if I go or not.

half black half white. I personally would use extreme caution if venturing out tomorrow and know when to call it.

thanks. I do have a nice Spud bar and I'm not very daring. Never fell through and I'd like to keep that way.

I got out this weekend in upstate NY.  We drove up Saturday and got a motel in Indian Lake NY.  I had the alarm set at 5 but the temp was -13 Sunday morning so we decided to give it some time to warm up.  A couple too many the night before made the decision a little easier to catch another hour of sleep.  We had checked the ice the night prior and found about 6 inches of good black ice with another 3 of white ice, followed by some slush and then anywhere from 3-6 inches of snow.  I had my smitty sled with me but the slush froze to the bottom of the skies and made it useless.  After a short haul to deeper water we were setup by 830 and I got a flag before my second tip up was in.  It was a swing and a miss but a good sign of things to come.  We had sporadic flurries of flags.  We'd have an hour of nothing then all of a sudden 3 flags would pop up.  We packed up around 2 for the 3+ hour ride home.  Ended the day with at least 15 bass, up to 3.8lbs, some nice sized perch, a few gills, but nothing with teeth.  Definitely a trip that I will be doing again.  The motel was very reasonable priced and there is so many fishing opportunities in the area.

Nice.  My buddy has a camp up there I can use if you want to go back Pat.  15 from where you fished.
