Buckshot Rattlers for Perch
« on: Dec 12, 2004, 12:19 AM »
Anyone had any luck with the buckshot rattlers for perch, I picked up a couple to try this year just wondering if anyone has had success with them. If so what size is best. I got a couple 1/4oz, is that to big? or should I go smaller.
Thanks for the imput.

That is one of my go-to lures for perch, they work really well, and that size will work, they have hit on bigger ones than that. Buck-shot rattle spoons are one thing that i will never leave at home, i will always have at least 5 on the ice no matter what.

Do they work better than a Hali, or is it just another spoon for the arsenal?

I would say the Buckshot is for more aggressive biters,
the hali more sublime...

The Buck-Shot is my go-to lure for perch, with the Hali a second choice.  I've found that the Buck-Shot can trigger bites when other lures aren't producing.  And now they're making the Buck-Shot with a dropper hook!  Good stuff...

I have found it not to be my best lure for perch. I find that a Pimple works better just because of the flash. The glow color of the buck-shot does not seem to work will for me on the lakes I have fished. Having said that I haven't  invested as much time with the lure like I have with the others. I think I will invest more time with it this season, why? They're paid for! ;D

I've always used them with a dropper.
Northland has them pre-rigged, or make your own...

Hali-Man -

I have made my on droppers for pimples and I made one for Northlanders before. Can you tell me what's your most successful color? Also what's your most successful color for the Hali's?

Blue Fox has now made a rattle spoon.  I got a few in the 1/16oz and 1/8oz size and they glow!

Hey Mole-
I can't say that I have one color out-produce all the others.
I always start with perch, then change it up as needed.

Cabelas in Hamburg had them last time I was up there. Also you can order them from northlandtackle.com.
