There's more hook ups with 1# but it does come with a lot of maintenance.  Check line after every fish and sometimes you need to retie after every fish.  You also have to basically treat every fish like they're a trophy fish too.  If you're finding decent success with 2# then personally no need to go down to 1#.

There is a big difference in sinking speed and getting all the coils out between 1 and 2 lb. lines. Not all 1 pound line is the same however. There is a very noticable difference between the 1 lb. Asso Flurocarbon and 1lb. Trilene Micro Ice Ice have. The trilene has a larger diameter thus having a higher breaking strength vs the Asso lines smaller diameter and less breaking strength. If your used to 2 lb. line but want something heavier 1lb. micro ice or a 1.5lb asso fluro would be a better choice. The 1lb. and lighter Asso lines are very thin but require more TLC and attention than the 1 lb. micro ice.
