Lower Crow Reservoir
« on: Jan 01, 2019, 09:19 PM »
Hey all. Anyone ever fish Lower Crow Reservoir, west of Ronan?  I read that there were pike in there, but have never talked to anyone who has fished it for pike, or anything else for that matter. Just looking for general info. Thanks

back in the day you could catch multiple species that where all quality there. Water level has been a big issue n run off from surrounding farms leaches it probably don’t want to eat any fish from there. Yes pike are there.

used to fish that place for yrs....just watch the crop dusters....and observe the spray on the potato fields above.....also in the summer...the runoff into the flathead is alarming......good place to get a bird...but fish...meh...i'll pass.....

Add on that the reservoir has been extensively dewatered and never refilled.....

Thanks for the info guys. Might give it a try this weekend. Guessing there will be fewer folks there than most places.

As a few other people mentioned, water is extremely low.  They were working on the dam all summer, hopefully they will increase water levels once those repairs are completed?

Catch mostly browns, rainbows, smallmouth, and little perch.  Heard there's pike but never seen one myself

They were actually physically working on the dam? I never EVER thought that would happen. Hears hoping it gets some water in it again.

Yes, this summer they had all kinds of equipment in there working on the lower side of the dam, haven't been by there the last couple months to see if they still are.

I fished it about 4 times in the summer, targeted it for both pike and trout and couldnt catch anything.  I wont return.

Talked with a guy working on the dam and he said it may be 4 more years before they finish and fill it back up.

Thats disapointing.  Not much water left in there, 4years of this will be hard on the fish.
Anyone fished mission reservoir before?  Tried it this morning for the first time and did alright...

We are part of that project. They are currently working on the new spillway. it is a 5 phase multi year project, last I heard. Right now there is a concrete batch plant set up onsite. It's quite a mud hole and P.I.A. to get around on that site. I haven't been on the site myself, but I'll ask one of the guys what the level is like.

haven't been on there in a couple weeks, but the ice should be fine.  I know its still good on most of the other nearby lakes.
