Checking the ice, northeast area
« on: Jan 01, 2015, 06:11 PM »
Happy New Year
A buddy an I went out to check a few places for ice conditions. 1st stop was in Andover to a place that is usually the first in the area to be fished. Had 2ish inches of black ice. Was able to stand on it, went out about 50'. 2nd place was another locked up fishing hole, in Hebron. Measures close to 3", solid black ice. Went out 100' or so, in 3' of water. Could see the bottom very clearly. 3rd place had some open water areas, mostly locked up. A bigger and deeper body of water in Colchester. If the temp stays where it has been for the past few days, could be fishing in this area in a couple days. Remember to stay safe first, fish second.
Best time of year to fish . . . .
