1/16 Walnut Creek report
« on: Jan 16, 2011, 10:13 PM »
Started fishing 3:00 pm near the trees in the center 40 yards south of the boat ramp on the west side. We had 10" of ice and set up in 17' of water, fished until 6:00 pm. Caught 12-15 bluegill and a few crappie (all small) but good afternoon on the ice spent with family.

Good to hear, I live right across the street from the entrance to walnut, and it looked like open water "today".  Was that open water out there, or was it just some melt on the ice.  There was about 30 geese diving into it, I was on my way to work so I didnt see them land.  That has always been a slow lake through the ice anyway.  Went to Wehrspann yesterday and pulled out a limit of nice gills.

I'm sure that is open water, but of course we didn't go near that area, we fished to the south. My nephew has been going there once a week for a few weeks so we have a good idea where the ice is good. I commented to my brother when we were in one of our shelters how nice it is to fish on 10' of ice.
