Title: Ice fishing tournaments
Post by: HardIce32 on Dec 20, 2016, 09:46 AM
Anybody else ever wonder why the Nebraska game and Parks don't organize an ice-fishing tournament to help raise money to rehabilitate a said lake each year?   There are so many passionate ice fishermen in Nebraska and  there are no tournaments around the eastern part of the state that I'm aware of. It would bring fisherman together for a great cause, and I think there would be huge excitement and great success of they would.   Just my opinion any thoughts?

Our NGPC's Family Fishing Nebraska Program has three events again this winter but they are FREE events to promote ice fishing in Nebraska.  One of the events has a Classroom Clinic beforehand with arguably a handful of the BEST ICERS in Nebraska speaking to the classroom.

More details after the Holiday, but here's the "early" announcement with times and dates:

We never have been in the business of organizing competitive fishing events.

Typically our Aquatic Habitat Rehabilitation Projects, depending on the waterbody, can cost up to millions of dollars.  Don't know that ice-fishing tournaments are going to raise that kind of $$$$.

However, if you are buying a fishing permit, you are contributing.  Thank you!
