Pole Setup
« on: Dec 20, 2007, 08:26 PM »
I don't usually use tipups. I use my regular 6' fishing poles. I use about a 1-1/4" wood bit and my cordless drill to "drill" a hole ,at a slant, about 2 - 3 feet from my fishing hole. I have a small bobber to keep the bait and weight suspended, with about a foot of line free from the pole to the bobber. The loose line lets the fish start a good run, and sets the hook. I leave my drag fairly loose so the fish can take line with out spitting it out.

I love the pole Holder 8) The fish shouldn't be able to pull that down the hole. I just like not having to keep the holes clean all day while waiting for a bite, but i like your setup.

Never. I have used this setup when it was -20 and 45 above, and no problems.

I have had the poles doubled over, and everyone of them held tight.

I forgot to mention above, I use bells on the end of the pole so I can be in the icehouse and hear a pole go off.
