Vexilar ducer eye bolt
« on: Dec 05, 2019, 01:01 PM »
Hello all,
I’d like to replace my stock eye bolt transducer with a longer one from the hardware store.  My only question is I’ve been seeing a lot of people talk about certain types of metal to use or not to use.  Curious if anyone has anymore insight into this?  It doesn’t seem like anything special and seems just like a regular eye bolt from Home Depot to me.  Thanks in advance for all the help!

Stock bolt should be fine ...maybe stainless steel if you could find it .

Oh I’d definitely be going stainless steel.  There was talk about 6061 aluminum being the best because it won’t “damage” the crystals on the ducer, but I’ve never seen anyone else mention this

Which should be a sign that it’s not a big issue, but figured I’d check here quick first

When I purchased my Ultra pack case I don't recall the eye bolt being aluminum ..nor have I heard anything about damaging transducers via an eye bolt ..nothing in the description.  And price doesn't reflect any space age material.

maybe Email them if you have more concerns

I seem to use the eye  on clean ice/minimal snow..but mostly use the transducer arm w/o float ..the float if freeze ups are a concern and on the "hot" hole
