Title: Berkley
Post by: Jbarker on Dec 08, 2003, 08:42 AM
Has anyone tried the Berkley lightning ice rods. I just picked one up and it looks great. Just wondering if anyone has any good/negative comments about these rods?

My buddy bought one to fish with me a couple times. He likes it but doesnt fish a lot..soo, as soon as I see him again, I am buying it from him.  It seems to be a real good rod, probably as good as teh big, open water rods they make.

Nice rods for the price.  Sensitivity is good.  Actions are nice and smooth.  Fish them Genz style for best results.  No bad comments from me.

i own three of them myself.... i forget now... but seems like i paid around 20 bucks fer them at cabelas. i can't, however, say that i've ever caught a fish on them.   :-\

maybe i'll get out with them more this year. but they do LOOK like a really nice ultra-light rig

l've got them and the genz series berkley makes.l prefer the genz they're more sensitive and much more comfortable if you jig holding like a pencil. My kid now uses the lightning rods they're not bad but for the extra 10 bucks......just my 2 cents  :'(

I Own 2 lightning ice rods 1  29"  and a  32" . I have used them alot in the 2 yrs that i've owned them and they work great the only thing that is that if you are fishing in extreme cold the reels freeze up sometimes. Other than that they are tough I've caught some pretty big burbot on them and some decent pike.
