Out of province
« on: Nov 05, 2011, 08:17 PM »
I will be in Brooks early/mid December for an early Christmas with the in laws.  They DONT fish????? I was wondering if there are any spots close to Brooks for a reprive from the in laws i.e. ice fishing.  Your help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

We have been to Newell in the summer, never fishing just hanging and such.  Thanks for the reply.  I will for sure let you know how a guy from Sask makes out.

The count down to the in laws is on.  Whats the scoop with Newell?  Is the best/easiest access at the park?  Where do I buy a license?

Ok boys count down is on.  Hows the Ice at Newell's or Crawling valley?  Where does a guy buy a licence?  Here we get them at most service stations, is it the same in Alberta?

Buy the license at Canadian Tire or Wallmart.  Crawling Valley is north east of Bassano.  You just drive east of Brooks on hgw. # 1 Just past Bassano is a sign showing Crawling Valley.  Just follow the signs.  It is about 10 K off the highway all paved.  The ice I am told is about 10 inches right now so it will be getting thicker every day.

Fish around the islands for best results.

Good luck.  Jigs and smelts.
