safety advice
« on: Jan 26, 2006, 09:32 AM »
have GOOD quality ice cleats! and ice pics!
and keep a spare set of clothes in your vehicle!

With the weather as odd as it seems to be these days you never know what conditions
you will find when you are out there... It could be clear and 20 deg when you get on and
40 deg and raining with open water when you leave!

Be prepared!

I'd wear a vest under my jacket
that way you could wear the same size
thinking of getting a self inflatable
does anyone use these

I use the sospenders inflatetables35lb model. They're light and anytime the ice is suspect like today I wear them. I also have ice cleats and hand ice picks. Hope not to have to use them but if I need them I know It will help.

I've had a mustang jacket for a couple of years and on early and late ice it's a big comfort. It's warm though, the foam that floats the coats is also a great insulator.
