I used to wear the helmet liner by itself, but have been on an Under Armor kick for the last year.  I wear the under armor skull cap under my Bomber hat, then I an option if it gets warmer.  every section starts with an UA layer followed by either a wool layer or a heavy fleece. then I have my windproof, waterproof hunting clothes on over that.(after spendind the $$$ on UA, I gotta save somewhere!  Then I have a liner sock, wool sock and my trusty Sorel Glaciers. I fit isn't too cold out I wear those insulated half coated gloves, they work good. If it is very cold, i switch to Neoprene.  And my flip up sunglasses.

Frogg Toggs are great to keep on the motorcycle for when you get caught in the rain.  They're lightweight, breathable and pack up small.  I've used them on the bike as a spare suit for years.

But they are not abrasion resistant at all and offer zero insulation factor - other than a being a lightweight wind breaker.  They'd get torn up quick ice fishing.

When it is real cold I use -100 Sorels, high tech socks and uw, jeans, sweatshirt Cabela's Motosports (snowmobile) Goretex Thunisulate jacket/pants/gloves, and a knit cap.  Never get cold in that high end Cabela's snowmobile stuff - absolutely love it..  Typically the jacket is off when on the ice - too warm.

If you don't have a heated shack, then the next best thing to keep you warm when it is REAL cold is a portable shack with a little heater.

Once in awhile you can find some great deals on German military issue rainsuits on Sierra Trading Post. Used, but in excellent condition.
Last rainsuit you'd ever need to buy- unless your were to roll down a mountain in the thing or something.  :o

DITTO ON THAT!

I've had mine for 15 years. Never gotten cold on the coldest days. Get the arctic lining. Blanket lining sinks for really cold weather. Just my 2 cents.
If it smells worse than the bait send it back !!!

Duofold long johns top/bottom (polypro/wool blend)
wool pants
insulated shirt
long sleeve t-shirt
wool sweater
fleece vest
polypro socks
smartwool socks
acrylic insulated socks
sorel boots
waterproof/windproof snowmobile bibs and jacket
sunglasses
balaclava
beanie (fleece lined)
ski gloves
cheap mittens

I've also learned the #1 way to stay warm is not putting your socks/boots/bibs/jacket on till you get to the lake.  If you sweat in the vehicle on the way, you'll be cold the rest of the day.
