When Pike people catch a laker

Fishing for Pike in 10' of water, we didn't expect a laker.  First time we've caught one.  You can probably tell from our reactions.

Nice fish.. Just goes to show ya, you dont have to fish deep for lakers this time of year...

Nice fish. Always amazes me how washed out looking the lake champlain fish are.

Sidenote
I was walking out to the deep water at Otsego Lake to try for lakers and talked to a group of guys with tip ups set up in the shallow bay. I  assumed they were pike fishing there, but as we talked they said the tip ups were set for lakers  . They said the lakers come in there shallow eating perch all winter and they also catch them ice fishing at Keuka lake in shallow water on the perch grounds  too.
