Steelhead
« on: Oct 10, 2021, 03:31 PM »
As nobody seems to post anything on MyFishFinder, any reports on if there are any fish in the tributaries around Erie? The last report on fisherie.com is from 10/1. I was just wondering if there is anything more current.

Thanks in advance. I know it's not ice related, but again nobody's posting anything on the other site.

I was watching the cameras at Uncle Johns on 10-3-21 and I was amazed at how many fish were running up the creek.  The water was not all that high but it looked like it used to look 20 years ago for a nice run.  I have not had the chance to go up yet this year but hopefully maybe make it up by this Wed.  Check the water gauges at Brandy run and check the water at Uncle Johns camera for a good idea on conditions.

The gauge on Brandy Run by Elk Creek looks good right now but I did see more rain on the way to Erie tonight or tomorrow.  Good luck.   I also have a three hour drive to get up there.

https://www.fishusa.com/avonia-webcam here's a live feed from Trout Run in Erie running 24/7.  Waters high and rough today but on a clear day you can see steelhead staging in the tribs! The temperature is coming down but the fishing is heating up!!!

Tuesday was essentially a washout, too high and dirty. Wednesday was better.

The run has been pretty good this year. Not 1999 levels, but good as it has been in years. Plenty of fish around. And as many people fishing as ever. Also lots of water this year for once.

I've fished 5 full days. Multiple fish every day. Good times.

Yes there are steelhead in the tribs, although I haven't been up since the end of October. It's been a banner year by all accounts, with lots of fish around that have spread out since the rain and snow have began. I had one trip where I had planned to stay the whole weekend, caught so many fish on day one that I got bored and went home. Pink squirmy wormy fly, sometimes with an ice dubbed body, have been money  ;D

Some video from my last trip..
