Western MA - DEC 17THCentral MA - DEC 25TH (Merry Christmas)Eastern MA - JAN - 1ST (Happy New Year)This is my safe guess of at least 6 inches. Some folks like to dare Mother Nature with 3 or 4 inches. NO THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I'm hoping Ron and I will be first out on Dec. 1st for a third year in a row.
Good luck with that Mark, we were fishing on the day after Thanksgiving last year.
central massby Nov 30th if all goes wellif i decide to to drive west, by Nov 20thjust give me 1" of black ice...burplenz
The only 1" of black ice that I like comes in cubes and goes in my cocktails............. Jim you are nuts!!!!!!
believe me..i'm not on water that is over my head.shallow pond up in the hills freezes very early. 26" of ice last year. if it wasn't for all that rain in march, i would normally fish almost thru april.Bring it on baby!!!burplenz
I thought you drank everything warm?
Don if we weighed what Lenz weighs we could walk on water I predict first ice will be when we can safely walk on it
H=4(square root of p)H is the thickness of the ice, p is the total load in tons. I weigh in at 160 with gear on, so in theory 1.13 inches of clear perfect ice would hold me up. Ain't no way I'm going out on an inch and and eighth, though! My luck, I'd catch a huge fish and as soon as I pulled it out and held it to get the hook out the ice would crack...
Scotty, that's real wishful thinking on pulling out a fish that big.
