Fish Trap is a brand portable shelters made popular by Dave Genz. Also incorporated with Snowboat, and Clam (used to all be USL, now called Clam Corp).

Not So Fast there Buckaroo.  Don't let Deep Creek pull your chain with all that technical sales hype jargon.  Fish Traps are submersible wire mesh cages with a spring loaded door.

Firsticerules,
I guess it's the old "be careful what you ask for" thing...you'll get a ton of information when you ask a question on this site. Helpful people.

I use a 1 man shelter called a Fish Trap. It's made by Clam.

One of the site sponsers is Jacks Traps...a builder of good quality tip ups...check him out!

I've never heard of the wire basket thing...I guess it's where you're from, not what you know!

those double ended cages are for mostly catching minnows for bait. Bait the traps with bread, fish swim in they cant easily swim back out. Never heard of anyone doing that during ice season though.

I have an "old Fashioned" fish trap. It is a flat piece of wood with a spring loaded wire bail and has a small trigger in the middle. When the fish takes the cheese....I mean bait, it snaps shut. The only problem is that it tends to cut the small fish in half.

Hi gang!
In the winter I crawfish trap the deepest hole in the lake. thats how I get crawfish in the winter.  I cut three 8'' hols with my auger then slide the trap thru the cut out center. spike the line let the cage hit the bottom then check it in a day or so.  I get minnows and crawfish this way all winter.  It works believe me.  Every one thinks crawfish hybernate but they dont.  They just come out of the mud in deeper water.  I bet ya'll didnt know that!
So I fish trap Crawfish trap that is!
