bluegill blue sky day
« on: Dec 26, 2011, 06:19 PM »
Took the opportunity to fish a private pond today which was a 1st for me at this place on the ice. Usually spend a few trips in the spring for the bass spawn. Was a beautiful blue sky sunshiny day. Couldn't have asked for any better.  We've pulled some pretty nice largies outta this place and plenty bluegills so figured if anything we would pull a few gills. Started out pretty slow, just a few nibbles. Was positive running the power auger would freak them out being this place is no deeper than 15ft at its highest point in the spring. So we drilled all our holes plus some at first light. As soon as it calmed down and the sun started hittin us good the schools came callin caught 35+ gills and 3 large mouths between 2 of us. Biggest largie was 12in caught by my buddy, my largie only went 4in  :'( only fish worthy of a pic for me was this chunky gill. All and all a great day.
