Has anyone seen if there is any ice on Ada Hayden north or south lakes?

That lake always takes a long time to freeze due to just that, waterfowl, the south end of the lake is super deep and full of big crappies since its an old gravel pit but its always spooky being the first to check it out.

I'll drive by after work today. If there is any ice I'll drill it and let you.

Anyone catch anything else besides trout in AH the last few years? It was once a heck of a good crappie fishery but now it doesn't have much to offer besides the trout (if you like trout fishing). It seems like it gets a lot of heavy fishing pressure (mostly ppl fishing trout) and the overall fishing quality has gone down quickly within the last 4 years. As they say, it isn't like it used to be! Whats everyone else opinion?

Its a place for waterfowl to sleep and poo now, and a place for urbanites and minorities to load up their freezers with dogfood eating slime darts lol :)

I was curious about the ice because the DNR was suppose to stock it today, and if it had some unsafe ice on it they probably wouldn't do so. I like the opportunity to fool the trout with my fly rod and my own hand tied flies! I have never been there and with the weather warming up I figured it might be worth a try. As for the immigrates, the buggy whip(fly rod) keeps them from trying to Scott Street me! ;D

There was a thin layer of ice over the north part of the lake this morning(Nov.21). With the temps being what they will be within the next couple of days who knows how long the ice is going to last.
