2013-2014 Wisconsin Get Together
« on: Sep 25, 2013, 01:02 PM »
I noticed that guys in the other states threads are starting to talk about and plan there get togethers. So I thought we should to. What do you the rest of you Wisconsinites think about dates, location, lakes, etc.

We had a good turn out on Prairie Lake in Chetek last year considering the ice conditions..  Depending  on the date, and location, I would be interested.  I work every other weekend, so that limits my ability to attend.  One of the issues last year was the location.  It is very hard to find a central location that allows members from the nothern part of the state, and southern part of the state to attend without hours of driving.  Maybe we could have a northern gathering, and a southern gathering.  That may allow more members to be able to attend, and meet other members.

I like the idea of a Northern and Southern gathering. I'd be up for something in the Southern part of the state. Beaver Dam or Fox lake might be an option.

I like this. I live in the southeast corner of the state and have been wanting to fish Fox lake anyway. Meeting here would be a good option.

Fox Lake sounds like a good bet for a get together. my sons and I fished it with great success last year. lets keep this rolling. this is a great idea for the southern half of Wisconsin, we now need some solid ideas for the northern half. anyone???

Fox Lake is great and a reality for me......

As for the North, I'm most familiar with and more likely to attend something toward the East, like Big St. Germain for example. Lots of water in that neighborhood to choose from. Up there I HQ @ 3 Lakes.

I don't think that many of the members who attended the west Wisconsin get together last year have checked in yet this year.  2 Possible options would be Rice Lake, or the Chippewa Flowage.

Maybe Himo can make this into a sticky thread so we can keep this fresh, and in everyone's mind.

Chippewa Flowage sounds great. They are planning to lower it another 8' in addition to the 3' they have already lowered it. It shouldn't be too hard to find fish. They will probably be swimming in circles! No walleye fishing after Dec 31 though. Dates?

Not sure on the date.  I for one have never ice fished the flowage, and have no idea where to go.  Do you drive out in vehicles,  use sleds, atvs, or walk out?  I think that would determine alot about setting a date.

While fishing eyes would be great, we may want to plan for after the 1st of the year to have better ice conditions.jmo

I'm game! I got a truck, gas, gear and bait, it matters not to me. I'd probably travel for the north and south just for giggles.
The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't

There is good ice before before the first. And there is always a place to access from roads, resorts etc to get on the ice wheather walking or driving an atv or snowmobile. I wouldnt drive a vehicle out there before the first though.

For us southern guys we should pick a date to do this on fox lake because it sounds like that location would work good for most of us so far. Saturday or Sunday and what weekend or both Saturday and Sunday. I was thinking that maybe HIMO could set up a pole and then we could vote on which date and location we want. So let's just get some discusion going abbot this.

I am game for a Northern WI GTG or even a Western WI GTG.  I work almost every Saturday so Sundays work best for me.  Sounds like fun.  Is the Chippewa flowage being lowered farther than last year.  I fished it last year and killed em in the random spot I picked.
