Also I don't target yellow perch so fry it up!!  ;D
I DO agree with not over harvesting, especially broodstock. If I fished the lake a lot, for more than a few meals, I WOULD be releasing more. I just fish it a few times a winter. I generally leave predators  (including coyotes  ;D :o) and feed the eagles the smaller ones to help prevent stunting. The bios I know agree that taking the smaller mature fish, in numbers, WILL help the health of that population be it lake trout, crappies or yellow and white perch. Got about 3# of fillets fro that batch! Gonna see how a few smoke along with a whitefish for a couple days ago. Some will get fried and some will get shrimped!!!! Whitefish one more time tomorrow!!!!

Disagree.  Study the effects of stockpiling and the effects on a fishery, including species other than perch.  Way more impact than his harvest of some nice eaters.  The other aspect you clearly arent considering is fecundity (ability to reproduce) and older year classes are not as productive...

All that said, hell of a first post.  Did you get lost from the PETA forums?  ::)

I hadn't really ice fished or been active on the past two years due to lack of ice and lost access to my previous account. I'll admit it does look funny though.

This year was a tad better where im at in Michigan.i got out 3 times and last year i never even stepped foot on any ice.

Maybe it was different farther east? The list of cold or snow records we shattered last year is extensive. Minnesota got a bad timed snow storm that set their ice fishing back a week or two, but it was just as cold. Everywhere else I'm aware of in the western half of the USA was insanely cold and snowy. It is the first time I have experienced over 5 months straight of solid ice fishing. I don't even think our daytime high got to 32 for 4 months straight. ND, SD, and WY (probably MT too) had the worst animal die offs anyone alive can remember. How could it have been that warm in Michigan?

At least you have Jobbie Nooner to look forward to.  ;D

That seems to me to be the anti-christ of fishing.  Id look forward to a root canal with more excitement.

YeaÖ even the panoptix didnít help much. Barely seen any suspended fish all season. Panning around, canít really see them if they arenít off bottom or moving towards/away from you causing the bottom to move.

You can with a slight setting adjustment.  If you are using the first gen panoptix, the setting is called "bottom fill"itll help you see the bottom clingers better.  Livescope it doesnt matter I can see them on bottom pretty clear.

Seen on the news the weather forecast for the mountains in California reports of them getting 4 to 12 feet of snow. The snow out here can be up to a couple feet in the mountains with maybe an inch here. Weather supposed to move in tomorrow through Monday. So might be a good weekend to clean the boat out and fill the lower units. Really want to find a prop for the boat. Well be safe everyone in the storms that are moving across. Looks like typical spring weather to me as cold and snowy to warm days just a day or so later. Have a good night everyone.
