Title: Beads for Walleye
Post by: jr_the_dj on Feb 06, 2007, 09:28 AM
OK this weekend I am setting up my tip-ups for Walleye. I have heard so many set ups that it gets hard to decide how to rig them, so this is what I have.

Standard tip-up line.
A 4ft leader of 6lb Vanish
Size 14 treble hook

Now I have heard some guys put beads on their rigs...Do you just slide the bead on to the line and let it sit on the hook or do you suspend it somehow above the bait?

The other question I have is in the lake I am fishing there is Walleye that range 12"-30" what size minnow should I hook on. obviously I want to catch some nice eating size fish.

I normally use Medium goldens 3 1/2"  is this to big for an 18" Walleye?

Thanks for all the help guys.

I slide the bead on before tying the hook on, and let it sit just above the hook.I use either flo red or chartruse.

A 3 1/2 inch shiner is a good size for walleye.  If you set up several tip-ups, try varying the size of your bait to see what they are looking for.
