My choice was perch because this is mostly what I catch.  Easy to find, catch, and can keep you busy some days.  I would like to try for whitefish, and pickerel this year.
Add a day to your life, go fishing.

Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish.

Pickerel fishing can be very exciting with lots of flags. Its fun to take little kids and newbies icefishing for pickerel.

Lake Sturgeon.  They are only available for 2 weeks (or less) in February, and spearing is the only way to take them.  It's a huge deal around here.
you spear sturgeon? do you eat them?  ???

I will if I ever spear one.  The average is only about 8% success rate, so it takes a lot of years of looking down the hole before one shows itself.

my other was for gators (pickeral).....not so much that i fish for them a lot, it's that they're animals and eat what ever you put down there, so catch them the most.  good target when nothing else is biting.

my other is for channel cats, its fun catching 20 - 30 lb channels on a regular basis. I am lucky that I can catch trophy cats 15 minutes from home ( Red River ) trophy walleyes 15 minutes from home (Red River and Lake Winnipeg) and have a perch factory 30 minutes from home (Lake Manitoba)

You must have a hell of a time trying to get crawdads to stay in the pipe.
