Great night on the ice last night! Found a stack of fish in the first hole we drilled. Dropped our first bait in the water at 4pm and caught them one after another for the next 3.5 hrs. We lost count a few times, but quite confident it was over 100 caught. Doing the math that meant a fish was coming up through one of our holes about every 2 minutes on average.
A few came home with me and will be made into a tasty Spicy Cajun recipe I make
Here's a video I put together:

Very Nice!!

How many did you keep? How big was your biggest one?

We only took home 5 total. I like to do one or two meals each winter.
Biggest one was about 25"

Thanks everyone, its a lot of fun, the guys are back out there again tonight and last i heard they were up to 60 fish.
These fish were caught on the Sauk River Chain near St Cloud. Its absolutely crammed full of cats.

Thanks for posting that video! Looks like you guys had a blast...

Awesome! :icefish:

do you ever catch any other kind of fish?
-
Wow great video. Thanks for putting it together.

Thanks for the great vid guys. I want to target more cats this winter always wondered if chicken liver would work now I know. Thanks again.
-
SO,DID YOU CATCH THEM ON THE BOTTOM LIKE IN THE SUMMER? GOOD GOING
-

The Sauk Chain has lots of different fish and in some spots you will mix in crappies, walleyes and rock bass, but in this particular spot its all cats all the time.

No these cats suspend from the bottom @ approx 30ft all the way up to 15ft and sometimes even higher. If you see in the video, there is almost 15ft of solid fish below us. It makes it pretty easy. We usually just set our float somewhere in the middle of the school. 5-10ft off the bottom is usually the magic zone.
The bigger cats are usually a bit more solitary and you will catch less targeting the roaming ones, but we have fun with these big schools of 20"ers and every once in a while a 26 or 27 will stroll through.

Congrats glad to see the young lad having fun

That was an absolutely awesome video. Great time on the ice for sure!
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for posting the video. I've heard the catfish bite can be fast and furious when you find the right spot your video proves this to be the truth. Only time I have caught catfish was on a tipup while fishing for other species. Good to see the next generation of Ice fishermen out having fun.

That's a Lodge and IMO the best all around house on the market. Sure you will pay extra, but man is that thing nice. 5 degrees out and we couldn't move the Big Buddy from low to med or we would get too warm (in sweatshirts).

If I didn't know better, I'd say that many fish marked at one time would put your flasher in danger of breaking. ;) I've never seen anything like it.
-
Awesome vid!!

Sweeaaaattt. Looks like it was a great night!
