Storm Fishing
« on: Feb 06, 2013, 03:48 PM »
Was wondering if anyone has had any luck before or during a storm. I myself have only tried it a couple times. Had good luck the day before a storm & none during.
A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work

Some of my biggest catches have been prior and/or during a storm.......good example is when it is sunny and a storm starts to roll in the fish get active and bite.  Same thing occurs in reverse.

I think it has something to do with barometric pressure going up or down (not sure which way)

Anyone else know?

Fish are supposed to bite on a falling or stable barometric pressure. Before a storm rolls in or during a stretch of stable (calm) weather are the best

Some of the best days we had fishing was in miserable weather.the difference was that we were all drinking back then so we didn't mind it.Now we are older and sober so we don't like it.Sitting in front of a woodstove sounds good now.LOL

The fish bit today hard before it started snowing. Frontal fishing are some of my favorite times to fish.

There's nothing like a good snow squall moving in to make the tip-ups fly!

Kinda like hunting! Sometimes biggest ones come out in the nastiest conditions because somehow they know most of us lazy humans wont be out  ;D

It doesn't matter to me, I plan on being out in the "blizzard" tomorrow since I took a vacation day to fish Friday & Saturday I plan on making the most of it regardless of the weather.
Have pop up, anchors & a nice heater...
Bring on the fish!
Gonna try Georgia Shore again, perch are biting, mostly small dinks but a few jumbo keepers makes it interesting.
Tight Lines!!!

I have had good luck before the storm and then average luck during the storm. Barometic pressure is
going to fall with this storm Friday and should be good day. Sat will be overcast and good day
for deep water jiggging.

one year like 12 years ago we caught 46 walleyes and 42 were caught when the barometric pressure was under 29.0
