Not on the other end of the lake.
That was between 2-4"

Anywhere the snow was deep is where there
Was only 2"

There are 10-12 shantys on that end of the lake, there probably is that much
Ice with all that traffic on it packing the snow down.

Fished it today on the state access side where the shacks are.
Solid 5" of good ice.
Further you go out thinner ice.
My furthest tip up was out 350 yards from shore
2 1/2 to 3" of good ice.

Was on the left side of the lake, if you are looking out from the access, two days ago.  The ice fluctuated quickly, going from 4 inches under the snow to 2 inches without any way of telling due to the snow-very sketchy at times.  Also slushy-hard going pulling sled with gear.  Be very careful if you are on that side; bring a spud bar, spikes and don't drink too much-changes quickly without warning. Punched a couple of holes after clearing the snow and three inches of water sat in the hole after 5 minutes-alot of weight on that ice.

how is the fishing on salem for the eyes in the winter? My goal for this winter is to jig one up, might stand a better chance at little salem, any advice would be appreciated.

They are there, but  Hard to find.  There are a lot of fish in that lake-gamefish and baitfish so times and structure are important.  We caught many smelt and tiny, one to two inch, perch.  we also caught two jumbo perch and a white rock bass- if that is what it was?  Eyes were not red.

I have a buddy who lives with a close view of South Bay and and this morning there were many guys fishing, driving four-wheelers and snowmobiles out and bringing there shacks out. Im a little confused at how you all are measuring but with the amount of people out there the bay should of swallowed everyone.
