Comet & Moosehorn Pond??
« on: Feb 19, 2006, 07:29 AM »
Does anyone know how the ice is up at Comet or Moosehorn Pond? Thinking of getting out there but need to know how thick the ice is before the drive.

would love to know if comet was locked up or not...    fished a small local pond today 5-8" white ice... 5 flags... (using pike bait) checked another across the town... only skimmed... maybe 1/4" ...   its crazy out there this year!!  be safe! -moose

I did make the trip up there yesterday and found that Comet had water near the boat ramp and was completely open by the dam. I didn't see anyone out there at all. I ended up at Moosehorn which had 6" - 9" on it.

Moosehorn Pond is just northeast of Comet, right off of Old Princeton Road about 1.5 miles in from rt.68.

Moose, no it was only open enough so that you couldn't (or shouldn't) get on to the ice, maybe 10 feet. There was more open water by the dam but you wouldn't be casting very far. With all of this cold it might even be iced over by now.
