Auger tune up/ fixing
« on: Jan 05, 2018, 08:52 PM »
Brother in-law gave me his gx35 Honda 4-stroke ....it's not in good shape...ran fine last year...he didn't take care of it and now it won't start... changed the oil and gas, won't turn over. Anyone know of anyone that works on this stuff around Des Moines?

will it start if you dump a bit of gas in the carb?

Did you change the spark plug?

Basics is it good gas ...check for spark..is plug gapped right ...will it run if gas is shot/sprayed into the carburetor ...is the fuel line full/air bound ?

If you can get it to pop/run some with a little gas into carb...then could be air bound ..let it sit in such a way as to let the gas get into the fuel line and air pass...and add SEAFOAM a shot into 1/4 full auger tank ...once started let it warm up ...then kill it with the choke let sit for a half hour...this allows the SeaFoam to saturate the carburetor and fuel system...repeat process and let sit over night ...it should be good to go the next day .

won't turn over.  Are you saying the crankshaft will not rotate?  If so, I'd say the piston may be stuck/ corroded in the cylinder.
take care,

Sounds like needs a carb job. If stored ethanol gas without Staybil or SeaFoam, good chance carb is gummed up.
