I am hopefully for December to I was fishing end of November the year of the polar vortex year. To bad not that cold yet. Thinking the winds going to be north west this winter meaning very cold winter like the vortex year..  hopefully it's not January 15?  like I said..  but will see from past years track records it January 15 th is why I say it.. winds south west in fall going to be north west or east in winter.. will see very cold when it does northern winds..  it was north east last fall and had a more south east winter..  thinking it will be a more west wind from north this year dropping the jet steam .. you never know a lot of this fall wind is south west right now.. but you never know..  might be two years of north east wind?? That why mother nature is cruel..

If you look at white band it's from north west on this map at link.  are avarage days have been southwest wind lately  this fall.. so I am thinking the winds going to be north west this winter??  we will get some bitter cold from the dakotas etc iff it is when the jet stream dips.. like the dakotas get   usally get..like they did last year..

I am hopeing it comes early but will see.

I was out December 8th in Livingston last year, if you zoom in you can see the date on the screen of my sonar. I'm gonna say December 3rd this year, my birthday.

I have lost 68 lbs since February. But I am still 40 Lbs heavier than the 2 times I went thru in the 60's. Be careful my friends. That water is frickin cold. If I remember correctly.  ;) Yup 6" it is.

Same spot as last year. 3ish inches of ice one small gill in a couple hours this morning. Had to do it before the warm up, but last hope it's short lived. Theres some canals that could definitely be fished, but I dont have access to them...

I was out the last 2 nights, looks like we have today and tomorrow, maybe sunday if you're feeling lucky. I took today off just so I could enjoy it while its here. Strawberry had 2.5-3ish with about an inch of snow. Pressure cracks were around 4inches... luckily I didn't need to walk far and can use a pressure crack as my trail

Putting in another guess for 3rd round of 1st ice... Thursday the 23rd, hopefully it sticks around for a couple months and not just a couple days.

It will depend on the lake. If a lake that has ice now and don't loose it by Wednesday .That lake might get safe by the the 20th. Livingston county.

Yea theres some canals by me that kept their ice through the rain but if we get 6inches of snow friday/Saturday its gonna hurt that ice. I'm hoping the forecast holds and we start with a clean slate sunday after the snow.

Was on strawberry this evening, clear black ice was 2.5-3. And the other ice was 3.5-4 half frozen slush half clear. No fish... my neighbor was doing donuts with his wheeler 🤙

No, I was up in pinconning Thursday afternoon and friday. Checked strawberry yesterday and couldn't get on due to fluctuating water levels, shore ice is junk. But Rick's bait shack has had 2 or 3 dozen guys in front of his place on Whitmore lake all weekend.

Also awesome brown you caught! 🤙
