I use an ultra light frabill sensive rod.  I mainly use 3# test because I have an esier time tying knots on it than I do 1# or 2#.  I mainly jigged for gills but started crappie fishing last year.  One thing to remember is people call them paper mouths for a reason.  I lost some last year horsing them in too hard.
