I'm 54 and I've been fishing as long as I can remember. I ice fished a few times as a teenager, but got serious about it 12 years ago. Now I think I'd go crazy if I had a year that I couldn't get out!

I am 57 lost my first spud bar down the hold over 50 years ago.We used golden rod grubs we found in willows for bait.I remember the thrill of a bobber going down and catching crappie and bluegill,the clothes and boots are much warmer today.I love ice fishing.

Started ice fishing with my dad in 1962 when i was 10. I can remember him making holes with a homemade spud bar through 2 feet of ice. We didnt do too much hole hoppin back then. No electronics,no shelters,no reels, but we always managed a few fish. almost always had the lake to ourselves.

Growing up in Minnesota Ice Fishing was just what you did in the winter so 45+ years, frustrating this year so far with the lack of ice here in PA.

Started ice fishing when i was 4 years old. Im 41 now. I remember my father and grandfather using an axe to cut the holes and a homemade jigging rod

36, this is my 30th year of ice fishing and get to enjoy my 14 and 3 year old joining me now. Dad moved to Maine so we go to "visit" and had 3 generations on the ice the end of December chasing flags

Started 36 years ago but wasn't very good at it the first 6 or so. Learned by reading and trying stuff out on my own. I really grew to love it when I started using electronics. Learned a lot from my first underwater camera. Still learning but I love it.

Well I'm 36 and probably been ice fishing since 3 years or 4. So likely 32 to 33 years on ice. Will never quit either.

I've enjoyed reading the stories, thanks for sharing all. Looking forward to the results of the poll... Anyway I'm 33. Started 9 years ago. I only get out a couple times a year. But finally I'm acquiring better supplies and getting more excited about it. Really hope ice fishing is something I can share with my kids as they grow up.

I've been on the ice 25+ years, fish mostly the Harrisburg area so we don't get near the ice yinz guy's get in northern tier, hoping for a good year!

58 been hardwater fishing 40yrs.since 1978 started on trout on Scotts Run Lake in Berks County. Fished Marsh Creek when it had jumbo perch. Struble, Muddy Run, Marburg, Ontalantee w/15"crappies, Raystown w/stripers, Bellville, Ontario on the big walleye.. Kinda slowed down in my latter years with work. Retired now and ready to get back into it.

Just need some ice.

Im 35 and been ice fish for 30 years give or take a few crazy the advances our sport has made i remember my dad had taken my metal runner sled drilled holes in the 4 corners and attached a tarp to dowel rods and made a wind block our heater was metal foldgers can with legs and charcoal spoon style augers schooly rods broom stick handel homemade ones with small finish nails to hold the line

I'm 21 I've been ice fishing for 2 years, I mostly saltwater fish in the other seasons. Figured gotta do somthing to get me through the winter, but I didn't realize that it would be this fun. I have as much fun catching 10 inch perch under the ice as I do catching tuna.

I’m 49 years old been on the Ice since I was 14 my grandfathers buddy introduced me. The guys name was Tinne he was one of those older guys who retired and fished Keystone, Virgin Run and Twin Lakes taught me so much and gave of his time to me, when he passed away his wife gave me all his fishing gear because she told me I rekindled his life and love of the outdoors. Great guy been on ice ever since.

I'm 34, been ice fishing for 4-5 years now. My father in-law bought me some ice fishing equipment as gift 4-5 years ago. I didn't have much of an interest, but went along almost out of obligation because the tip-ups and rod were a gift …….. no surprise - I enjoyed it, and look forward to the lakes freezing every winter.

In my 50's. Been ice fishing for 25 years now. Used to live somewhere that we had to drive four hours (and up 6,000 feet) to do it, now I have 10 lakes within half an hour, and many more beyond that. I'd take a calm, wind-free, beautiful day on the lake with nobody else around over just about any other kind of fishing (I'm a cold weather nut - it cannot get too cold - just too windy). Glad to see so many people new to it - warning, it's addictive, and so are the toys (just like all other outdoor sports)! Two rods, a bucket, and a hand auger become so, so, soooo much more stuff the longer you do this. Or maybe that's just me.
