We are still fishing in northern Alberta, even though there is considerable overflow.  Caught perch like mad last Sunday, the smallest that I kept in my limit was 12".  Splashed water all over because of the overflow, and did not dare venture off the trail, until I came to my spot.  Ice is still 40" thick, under nearly a foot of snow.  Season ends March 31, not to open again until May 21.

Here in northern BC still lots of ice and below freezing nights. My favorite time of year. I'm hopeing for another 6 weeks but it all depends on mother nature. Probably at least 4 weeks left. ;D

Yup still fishing hard here in central Alberta. The ice is so thick I got about 6" clearance to my handle when drilling holes.
Caught this 31" Northern last weekend.

Fished yesterday in central NY. 16" of clear ice. The rain and heat is gonna eat the edges up pretty quickly. Maybe a week left. Time will tell.

Here in Vermont we still have some ice left also and panfish can be caught all year.  Also on Lake Champlain you can still catch anything.  Like Bussman said about NY, this warm weather and rain will end it quickly.  Open water trout season on waters opens on April 10th.

no problem here in manitoba, but that will change pretty quick..most southern lakes have heavy snow cover, making most spots accessible by sled or quad only..have to get the shack off this weekend, but as of last sunday, surrounded by about 2-4 feet of snow..ughhh!!! chisel, chisel, chisel to get the floor and skids out...grump

Northern Minnesota,  March 21, 22, and 23

A few walleye and sauger from Lake of the Woods  and   some BEAUTIFUL crappies from Upper Red Lake.

LOTW had 18" of snow on top of 30" of ice.
URL had 1" or 2" of snow on top of 36" of ice.

Another good couple of weeks at least for ice fishing on RED !!  ;D

Ice thicknesses still running 24" or so in Central Maine.  I'm planning on going tomorrow.  The legal ice season ends in Maine on March 31 every year.....doesn't matter how thick the ice is!  After this weekend, I'm hoping for a big warm-up, so there will be some open water to fish in come April!

AAAAHHHH you sound so soft Jim_C. But if your season closes on Mar 31 I can see your predicament. Here in BC they don't close thats why I hope for ice into the last week in June.

Hey, Terry.  I've lived in a number of states.  Maine is the 1st one with separate ice and open water regulation books and seasons. Thankfully, in this part of Maine, there is rarely more than 2 weeks between March 31 and the availability of decent amounts of open water.  Some years, you can literally fall through rotten ice on March 31, and fish open water the next day.  That's perfect timing.....as long as you don't fall through the rotten ice over deep water....BLUB BLUB.

Southern Manitoba had 4 inches of rain over the weekend - sure blew the ice off the rivers.  Looks like there'll be some flooding.  Lakes may still be OK for some late season trout.

Tried this weekend on Lake Champlain, but the shore was just to iffy.  I read that up in Clinton county yesterday they had to rescue two fisherman from a chunk that broke off and was heading north.
