2-Up ATV or Single with an aftermarket "Rack Seat"
« on: Oct 18, 2009, 09:35 PM »
Hi All,
I weigh about 270 lbs and my Bro and Pop each weigh a little less.
I want a 4x4 for Ice fishing and I want to be to ride two people. I don't know if it is worth the extra $$ for a 2-Up or should I just buy a single and strap on a Rack Seat.

Input Please...

I just bought a polaris 500 touring 2 up last spring.
Its good to haul six hundred pounds.

whats good about my machine over a normal one is that it has a place for the passengers feet,a comfortable seat, and handles for the passenger.

I mounted this on my arctic cat

I also added a fender guard/foot peg setup on my machine.

Of course when I bought this, 2-up machines weren't available yet, but this would be a good option if you don't want to buy brand new or nearly new machine.

X2.

The extra room and comfort for trail riding is a major plus. I'm 250lbs and my buddy is 280lbs and we ride quite comfortably on this. It's a 700 Arctic Cat TRV.

Best thing would be to Check with your DNR Game warden etc, some states WILL NOT allow 2 riders if there are no hand grips, footrests, and seat. I see Michigan DNR hammering people every week for riding double. I bought the Polaris X2 last year strictly for this reason, it will allow 2 riders, I chose the X2 over the touring cause of the dump box on the back. the box opens up for the second seat.
