Loon Lake Kids Fishing Contest
« on: Feb 21, 2013, 11:55 AM »
Does anyone know if the kids fishing contest at Loon Lake is still happening this Saturday?  I lost the phone number, and wanted to call to get more info.

Thanks

5857283722 is the number to the bar they won't know much though. In my opinion the ice will be suitable for a kids derby I can't see them not having it. Maybe try the bait shop @5857282328 they donate all the bait and should know

That is kind of what I was trying to figure out, how the derby is run.  I read that they give each kid a tip-up.  Does that mean each kid only fishes with one tip-up?  Or can we bring all our own gear and set up 5 per kids?  Do they supply the bait or do we bring our own?  Are we limited to fishing a certain area (the cove) or can we go out in the lake?

If anyone has fished this before and can provide some of the details, that would be great!

Thanks

I always thought springwater rod and gun and don't quote me but I I think you can fish 5 for your kid and they do supply bait I'm sure if your fishing 5 and not in the cove they would prefer you bring your own though also I think you can fish anywhere in the lake

Unbelievable!  We drove down and found out the hard way. I talked to Ray, and he was worried about ice safety.  Someone told him there was only three inches in some places. Probably someone who didn,t want a bunch of kids out there today.  There was a good seven where we were today.

Its too bad too, my kids were really excited about it, and we caught a few nice pickerel.  My daughter got a 19 incher and my son got a 23 inches.  Biggest one we ever caught.

My family enjoys decorating all my taxidermy during the holidays...it has become a tradition.  You could try spinning it that way...(wink)

I am glad you and your kids had fun!

Cheers,
Ice Beard
