thanks guys! great fishing this year all my fish were caught on 12 to 15 in. ocean herring, the same bait i use for shark and tuna in the summer. one flat 25lbs lasts me all season and costs me 22 bucks! the big fish really like them. not much action if thats the kind of fishing you like but if you got time to wait out the big ones it can't be beat. got in about three weeks of fishing this year with a few days off in between. total of 8 fish 40" or better with eighteen fish 24 to 39 in. our state gets our pike from minnesota and they seem to like it here! d. b. d.

First let me start off by saying......"nice fish!" Makes me want to add R.I. to my license list (of already MA & NY) We can't use herring in MA anymore but that is a great way to go when legal. BIG dead bait. You're correct on the waiting part but the rewards are worth it. Looks like the ice is on it's way out and looks like the weather won't be cooperating this week either

hey Dave,

you weren't kidding , nice fish.....the 2 your holding...at night or early in the morning ??
I went back to shady and ended up with a small 7 lb-er & a couple of bass around 4 lbs
not much ice left...

thanx bobwhite, been after that mark for a while can't seem to find one larger than 44in change! 3 fish that size all 3 weighed in the 25lb range one fish 5 years ago, two this year! been tagging and releasing them all. i need the 48" fish and that record will be broken! oh well that's what brings me back for more! d. b. d.

Nice pictures Dave.Dozindoug and i have been still trying. Looks like we may have good ice again for a while longer from the cold spell this week.Then we will be trying our luck northwestern mass a few times when ours is gone.Still only at 11.4 and some smaller ones but still worth it when you see a dead bait flag pop up.
