Title: Sylvan - Rome City
Post by: RoeBoat on Feb 03, 2018, 09:42 PM
Headed out in the morning, going to fish Brady's basin.  Come by and say hi if you're out there.  Black Striker coat, camo bibs, orange sock hat, jerking pole wildly!!!  Fish on!  I'll report back later, going to stick the with the fly in shallow water amongst the weeds.

Slow bite, fished Brady's.  Walked through water to get on.  Ice was 6" after you were on but occasionally cracked!  Picked up enough gills for a mess.  Too many dinks!

Don't use one, just walked right through it.

There were only 10 guys on the whole lake that I could see.  Only 4 left at 11 and not many fish being caught.  7 guys on Skinner, looked like they were getting fish.

I bet the dink crappies and bluegills are easy to catch. Or at least that's the way it used to be.

Too easy, last 2 times out I've thrown at least 10 back for every one I left with.  Really frustrating, gonna have to fish some deeper water I guess.  Really like that easy to fish 5-10 fow

Thanks for the update on Brady’s Landing. I have been wondering if the bite has slowed down there. Generally, the bite is pretty good there in early to mid January, but then it tends to taper off at the end of January. Sounds like this year isn’t any different. I have tried a couple of other places on Sylvan in the last 2 weeks, and the bite was slow in those places as well.

Going to try it again tonight before we get all this snow.  Just not sure that this shallow water is going to do it.  Might try to find the old creek bed out there.

Just can't seem to get a good break on this weather.  Get the cold back and then we get a blanket, crap.

Like Mark Twain said: "Everybody complains about the weather but nobody does a damn thing about it!  ;D

True Taxi.  Snow is not good, don't like the long walk in it and as cold as it was tonight it didn't sound like it was making any ice other than in my holes!

Fished the south east not too far from the creek inlet (same bay if you will). 50-60 yards from shore.  4-5 fow with a good stand of weeds.  Loaded with fish, too many under 6".  If I threw one back , I threw back 50.  Ended up with a nice mess, no monsters, nothing over about 9.5".  Caught them on a green fiska and a red fly with a gold tungsten bead.

Maybe that landing strip was a good idea. Let's plow the entire lake so the Sunday night low temp makes some ice.

I was thinking about that.  If I had a quad with a plow I would be back there pushing snow today.  Where's all that high wind I was trying to fish in a couple weeks ago?

Luckily we had some snowmobile tracks to walk in or the walk would've been bad.  I wish they would have plowed that strip the other direction.
