Where’d the bluegill go?
« on: Mar 05, 2018, 12:00 PM »
At your lakes where do you target this time of year? I was nailing them in 6-8fow and they disappeared. I’ve been moving around quite a bit trying deep hole 21’ in lake (40 acres), suspended, 15 fow and everywhere inbetween just cannot seem to find.

I would look to the shallows this time of year - anywhere that warmer, oxygen infused water would be entering the lake.

Once the weather warms you should see them staging up in the shallow to mid range depth, getting ready to spawn. Just understand that those cold days that come around can throw the fish in for a loop, so they may not bite well, but they are there!

Ice out. Winds stir up the water mixing the O2 levels. Same as fall turnover. Fish are going to be scattered this time of year. Gills can be from 2' to 40'..
