I was wondering and thinking of doing same thing. If its not worth going after eyes what about crappie and where? Mayville or deeper water? And how, jig down by the bottom or up higher?

Nice one.  I haven't been targeting them, but I've also caught a couple big ones this year.  3 over 12".  Hopefully it's a good sign that chaut will start consistently producing bigger perch

How's the shore ice today? Will I be able to get on the ice with a 4 wheeler? I went out from Long Point last weekend with no problem. The slush sucked but not a big deal. Probably going out from LP. again cause of easy parking pulling a trailer. Did that slush harden up any? I'm coming from Ohio didn't want to tow the trailer if I cant use the 4 wheeler.

Anyone able to get machines on the lake anywhere? I know a few people said the shore ice was breaking up in a few places I was wondering if there is anywhere the shore ice seems intact.

Fished Mayville today went out of the Mayville town park.  Ice was 12" and shore ice was solid not a problem, if your walking.  You can see where it melted and refroze, machines would break through at the edge.  24 degrees and making ice all day with strong winds and some snow.  Only a dusting to an inch of snow left on the ice after the strong winds.  Went down the lake and out about 500 yds to 12 FOW.  Got to get out pass the weed line.  Caught near 100 perch or more and kept (22) 8"-9-1/2".  One keeper for every 5-6 caught.  Most were 5"-7" those were all throw backs.  Perch eyes were the key today.

There is a large pressure crack and shove going across the lake from the Bell Tower Point toward Dewittville and Mission Meadows.  The shove is a foot high in some areas, but easy to cross at this time.  With the warmer temps coming this week the ice will release from the shore and with a strong NW wind the North end ice sheet will start to move South and the shove will get higher.  But with a strong SE wind the North end ice sheet will move North and the pressure crack will start to open up.  So if you are out there on a machine next week be mindful of this pressure crack and shove.

Fished Saturday out of Long Point on my ATV. There was a crack at the point with some over flow and snow, I stopped checked it out before crossing. I later spoke with a couple of guys who got hung up on that spot with their 4 wheeler and needed some help,  it was hung up on the frame. I had no problem going back at the end of the day. Fished all around the big Bar and sunset bay area and every perch was under 7". Caught a bunch of white bass, some the size of my pack boots. First one I thought was an eye but was deeply disappointed when I got it to the hole. I hope shore ice is still good for this weekend, I'd like to get out one more time.

The big perch are in shallow. 7’ or less in the weeds. I kept 30 over 8” yesterday and one measured at 12.

What are some of the access points? I’ve never been and would love to give it a shot. I’d be coming from Watkins. Just wondering where there is access on the north side of the bridge. Thanks in advance.

There's 106 pages of info on this thread alone on Chautauqua. Do some research instead of waiting to be spoon feed.

Long Point, Prendergast, and Mayvile have decent sized parking areas.
