Sunday's catch and the Diet Pepsi challenge

I hubbed at lake Chapman but fished Round Lake this weekend. Lots of 'gill fisherman just in front of the boat ramp in the channel. I saw quite a few gills being brought up but I had to go Perchin'. I ventured out to a spot previously marked on my new Garmin 72 (which I love by the way). I fished anywhere from 17 to 35 feet of water. Heck, at one point I was jigging 45 feet deep but thought I should not push my luck and moved back in a bit. The ice was about 2 3/4 thick with about 3/4 of an inch of junk on top. It got a little hairy and would have been fine except Brawler reminded me that it looked exactly like the ice that Andre fell through last year. Anyway, I pretty much had this spot to myself with the exception of Worms, Brawler, Joe and JT for a short stretch. Man I kinda got lonely out there. I managed close to 60 perch. Mostly 8-10 inchers with a few 7 inchers mixed in. I also landed a few Mongoloid bruisers, Mahucka's as a good friend would call them. All in all a good trip. Next stop.....a couple more Perch holes!

Wow..nice fish!   I have never caught a perch through the ice...I need to try fishing for them once the ice gets a little thicker to support my large frame...

Nice perch!! We were in the area last weekend and were told not to bother perchin' in round lake. WOW were we told wrong. Looking forward to getting after some of 'em when wawasee goes over. Again, Nice catch!

where is this round lake located at?

Round is in the Tri-County lakes region, just north of Columbia city. The lake was about 1/3rd locked up and the perch were deep. access to this water was a little sketchy on Saturday and better on Sunday. By now it should be fine.

nice catch. That one is big and plump. Did they have lots of eggs already?

Yes! Most of the fish were full of eggs. I only caught a couple of males. I would guess most of my throw backs were males.
