I didn't fish Sebago for the Derby this year, but
I'm on vacation this week so I might have to try it out, less competition. 😂😂

I went to the award ceremony last night, and they said that there was about 870 entrants.
Which is, about 200 people less then last year.
If I had known the lake wasn't going to have been over crowded I definitely would of been out there.  But the guys that I was with wanted to fish elsewhere (plus I'm not able to run the auger to drill holes) so I followed along.😕

Plus it was my birthday yesterday and they didn't dare to leave me by myself ... ;)2 >:D :roflmao: :roflmao:

Plus it was my birthday yesterday and they didn't dare to leave me by myself

happy birthday   what time did the ceremony end
It only lasted an about an hour, from 6-7pm
They moved things quickly
Had FREE food, pizza, subway sandwiches,
drinks, (no beer, like years past) chips+ cookies etc.

My nephews boy(11yrs old) managed to take home 1st and 3rd place in the pickerel division. Plus someone donated $150 LL Bean gc to all top winners. So he walked out with a total of $750 in gc
I walked out with $15gc to Starbucks  ;D

Out of curiousity how was everybody else’s “afternoon bite”? We had spectacular morning fish both days. Fishing was consistent until about 2 o’clock each day and never got red hot like it was in the morning. Even stayed out on the lake past weigh in on Sunday cause of how beautiful it was but didn’t have much action after 3. Overall our group of 3 landed around 25-30ish fish, weighed in a 25 3/4 put a fat slot fish back down the hole and had multiples in the 23-25 range.

We had a consistent bite both days. My buddy had a great feel for them mouthing the baits and he iced easily 40 lakers himself. 3 were in the slot range and a bunch in the 23-25" range and weighed in 1 just below 26" at 4.5 pounds. Between the 3 of us in our group we iced over 70 lakers during the derby.

This is a from just before noon on Sunday morning.

Looks like a good weekend for your crew.
Was the majority caught on traps or by jigging?

We caught a fair amount of fish on traps during the derby, shouldn’t have even spent any money on smelts. Bought 2 dozen and used less than a dozen on traps between both days. Dead bait and small suckers worked best caught 2-3 fish on the same piece of bait
