Water skis have to much surface area. I had a buddy try it and it pulled as hard as the sled. I would look for snow skis.

Try your local Goodwill or second hand stores for snow skis.  I bought a pair of kids skis for $5 and there were plenty to chose from and different sizes at the store I went to.  It would work much better than water skis. Good luck and its a great sled!

I have a set of water skis set up to use on my old clam tub ( not hub) 2 person shanty.  My first set of skis for ice transportation.  That was 1999. Maybe the first smitty sled?

Worked way better than just pulling it in the snow..
Now i have Smitty's with downhills and xcountry skis which work way better..
When pulling by hand i perfer the xcountrys ..

If there is a ski area near you go there, they always have old skis people leave when buying new skis and they are happy to have you take them away.

Just stopped at my Goodwill and they had 5 pairs of downhill skis. Each pair was $49.99

Now looking for other places to pick up a pair...but where??
