OneMoreFish thank you for measuring your older Tickle Stick and new radioactive Pickle Tickle Stick. I hope we do not see reports of broken tips on the new Pickle like when the Tickle Stick first came on the market back in 2014 or 2015. The pickle should be a very sensitive rod with a tip of that thickness.
Steve

No problem! Definitely looking forward to trying it out on some (hopefully) early ice this season.

Question: why not use a slightly heavier rod with a spring bobber?  Wouldn't that get you the sensitivity but less risk of broken tip?

Just got home. That new tickle stick is way more sensitive then second round. It just might be sensitive than my first round! Or on par
My sister is getting one for Christmas she said (pickle) will really compare them.
Never broke tip catching fish, only from mishandling it. We put ours in hard tube case so tip doesn't get broke accidentally.
I hate fussing with the spring bobber.

Anyone running one of these yet? How are the reels? I had an inline Eagle claw and sold it cuz I hated hand pulling the line. These have the trigger but will they drop tungsten jigs?

Okay everyone, explain to me what a pickle rod is? I was at a Field and stream yesterday and they had one with a plastic reel on it. I noticed the rod tapered off at the end and was flat. It didn't look to sturdy and the reel looked like a cheap piece of crap. They wanted $140 for rod and reel. What am I missing?

My feelings exactly, but then you wouldn't have the really cool green color.

Bass Pro was selling this set up for $110.00, Don’t know about the reel but I use the tickle sticks in various lengths and actions and they are great! 4th season with my first one no broken tips!
Keep it safe! JDL

I already decided to get one, and I have to say it's considerably better than my Eagleclaw inline. I used it today off my kayak for a few small panfish in 30° weather, worked fine. The rod is amazing, you see the tip move on everything. Like I said I only used it maybe 15-20 mins just to save an otherwise skunk day but I was very happy with it.

My wife bought me one for Christmas.  Great combo for nice weather or in the hut.  Once line starts to freeze just a little the free fall stops working. I think that would hold true with any of the free spooling reels. As far as the tickle stick rod.  Super sensitive and tuff. But you better put you back into setting the hook.  All that feel makes for a mushy hook set if you don't get on it.
